Automotive automatic gear box control process

In a process to control an automotive automatic gearbox, the engine is coupled to the drive train by the gear box and the engine is controlled by esp. an accelerator pedal. When the pedal is almost fully depressed, the automatic gear box is in the so-called kick-down position and selects gear which is in one of the lower available ranges. Selection of the newly-selected gear is maintained in the kick-down condition until the vehicle speed begins to decline
