The game system comprises a storage device(3) for storing sound data, a game control device(1,4,6) for reading the sound data corresponding to a predetermined scene of a game and outputting the same data, and a sound reproducing device (10) for reproducing the sound data outputted from the game control device(1,4,6). The game control device(1,4,6) detects the occurrence of a failure in reading the sound data. When detecting the reading failure of the sound data, the system copes with the failure by a direction somehow related to the world of the game.
