The present invention is drawn to pigment granules having a particle size from 0.5 to 4 mm, which consist of at least 90% by weight of at least one organic pigment selected from the group consisting of diketopyrrolopyrrole, quinacridone, perylene, indanthrone, flavanthrone, isoindolinone or amino- anthraquinone pigments and from 0 to 10% by weight of a binder having from 2 to 7 mol of carboxyl groups per 1000 g and from 0 to 5% by weight of a neutral emulsifier. The binder and the emulsifier together do not represent more than 10% by weight of the oveerall amount of pigment granules. The pigment present in the pigment granules has a particle size of from 0.01 to mum.
