PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for monitoring the possibility of ignition from a deposit produced in a wide range around a belt conveyor. SOLUTION: An infrared temperature detector 2 is installed at the lower part of the belt conveyor 1, in a suitable position so that a deposit is kept within a visual field. In the case of having difficulty in securing the visual field, it is preferable to secure a wide visual field by rotating the infrared temperature detector laterally or vertically. When there are a plurality of places where deposits are produced, the infrared temperature detector 2 can be installed in every place. The temperature of the deposit is measured by the infrared temperature detector 2. A measured temperature signal is taken into an ignition monitor 4 and compared with the predetermined reference temperature. When the measured temperature is higher than the reference temperature, the ignition monitor 4 outputs an image alarm on a monitor 5 for surveillance and a voice alarm from a loudspeaker 6.
