PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for a moving shelf capable of rapidly forming a requested work passage while securing the sufficient safety of a worker in the work passage by accurately detecting the presence of the worker in the work passage. SOLUTION: In/out sensors IP0-IP3 detect the passing of the worker through the entrance of each work passage selectively formed among a plurality of shelves 11-14, and human body sensors PD0-PD3 detect the presence of the workers in each work passage selectively formed among a plurality of shelves 11-14. On the basis of the detected result of the in/out sensors IP0-IP3 and human body sensors PD0-PD3, the presence of the worker in the formed work passage, and the interlock with the work passage is automatically controlled.
