PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To largely increase mechanical properties in a dental casting silver alloy that is specified according to JIS T6108, in other words, the fragility of the mechanical properties of a second silver alloy for dental casting is increased from the view point of its metal composition whereby the toughness is increased to a level enough for the alloy to be used in the more widely expanded use. SOLUTION: In order to solve the problem, platinum is added to the silver alloy to improve the fragile texture of the alloy and tin also is added to enhance the solid solution and increase the mechanical properties, particularly elongation and toughness without adverse effect on corrosion resistance, and discoloration resistance. In other words, the objective silver alloy for dental casting characteristically comprises 15-25 mass % of indium, 3-10 mass % of zinc, 1-5 mass % of tin, 0.1-1.0 mass % of platinum and the balance silver.
