PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil adsorbent which adsorbs a large amount of oil, is not broken nor torn off during recovery, facilitating its recovery, and from which fibers do not come off to cause environmental pollution. SOLUTION: This oil adsorbent, which is heat-resistant, and characterized by comprising a porous membrane which is made of a m- phenyleneisophthalamide polymer, has a great number of uniform micropores on the surface and in the inside, and has a porosity of 40-90% and a surface open pore ratio of 10-70%.
