PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for measuring a trailing edge thickness are provided to measure the trailing edge thickness of a bucket and a nozzle in an assembled stage quickly and effectively. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for measuring the trailing edge thickness of an airfoil in a turbine includes a plurality of tools, each tool having a main body portion and a forward end(14), an opening along a side edge(20) and in proximity to a forward edge(22) of the forward end(14), the opening including a slot(26) of predetermined width adapted to engage the trailing edge of the airfoil wherein each of the tools has a different predetermined slot width. A tool having an opening including a slot having a predetermined width is provided. The tool is aligned to receive the trailing edge in the opening. A match exists between the trailing edge and the slot width is decided. If no match, the providing step and the deciding step are repeated with a tool having a different predetermined slot width until a match is found. The size of the tool is recorded as the trailing edge thickness.
