An attachment 20 for inhaler canisters 10 has an integrated circuit including an electronic counter triggered by a switch 22 which is actuated when the nozzle 14 of the inhaler canister has been depressed to the extent necessary to dispense a dose. The counting device preferably maintains an accurate record of the number of doses delivered from the inhaler canister and is preferably retained with the canister when the canister is removed from the inhaler body 54, for example for cleaning. The counter may provide a warning when a predetermined number of doses have been dispensed from the canister and preferably the attachment does not radially protrude beyond the side wall of the canister allowing the attachment to be mounted in known inhaler housings. |
