The invention relates to an arrangement for accommodating piezoelectric crystals in piezoelectric mechanisms, preferably of telescopic type, for gas lighters, especially for pocket lighters, which comprises a telescopic body 1 which has an axial perforation 6, 13 in which are accommodated a base piece 4, 12 which receives the impact of a striker 5, a piezoelectric crystal 2, 10 and an anvil device 3, 11. Between the crystal 2, 10 and the anvil device 3, 11 there is an intermediate cylindrical piece 7, 14 of electrically conducting and malleable material which has a transverse section which is substantially equal to the intermediate section of the crystal 2, 10. The cylindrical piece 7 has a transverse section which is smaller than that of a portion 6d of the axial perforation 6 in which the anvil device 3 is accommodated and a part of its end opposite its surface with which the crystal 2 makes contact emerges inside the cavity formed by said portion 6d. By means of the arrangement, it is possible substantially to improve the protection for the crystal 2 against breakage and to achieve more intimate electrical contact between the crystal 2 and the anvil device 3. <IMAGE>
