PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment capable of stably manufacturing a near infrared absorbing filter and an optical recording medium under conditions of having improved solvent solubility and free from trouble of precipitating crystals from a coating solution. SOLUTION: An amorphous body of a phthalocyanine compound or a mixture of phthalocyanine compounds are manufactured by heating a crystalline alkoxyphthalocyanine compound or a mixture of crystalline alkoxyphthalocyanine compounds in an organic solvent followed by removing the solvent by distillation or freeze drying.
