An arm rest for a reclining beach chair or lounger which automatically adjusts in length as the lounger is adjusted between its straight-up position and its most reclining position-in a first embodiment of which, the arm rest is of two sections joinable one to another at spaced locations, and in a second embodiment of which the arm rest is of an overlying length joined by an S-clip clasp selectively positionable within apertures defining the lengths associated within individual chair reclining positions.
