PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical element capable of obtaining an accurate optical element without eccentricity without generating a flash at a molding in a mold side for releasing the molding in an opened mold state with as a small number of components of the mold as possible at a low cost and the optical element. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical element comprises the steps of integrally molding a part having the mold 11 for retaining the molding in the opened mold state and the mold 12 for releasing the molding in the opened mold state and having a mold surface for forming the molding of at least the optical element of the mold 2 for releasing the molding in the opened mold state, injecting a resin in the mold formed of the mold 11 for retaining the molding in the opened mold state and mold 12 for releasing the molding in the opened mold state, thereafter opening the mold, releasing the molding of the optical element from the mold 12 for retaining the molding in the opened mold state, and manufacturing the optical element. The optical element is formed by the method for manufacturing the element.
