PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system for forming a weather resistant coating of clear ink on the printed face of a recording medium. SOLUTION: The system for forming a weather resistant coating comprises means 40 for traveling an ink jet head 30, relatively in the X-Y direction, above the surface of a recording medium 20 printed with a drawing or characters and mounted on a platen 10, and means 80 for forming a weather resistant coating composed of a collection of clear ink dots on the surface of the recording medium 20 printed with a drawing or characters by jetting clear ink drops from the nozzle 32 of the ink jet head toward that surface while moving the ink jet head 30, relatively in the X-Y direction, above the surface of the recording medium 20 printed with a drawing or characters through the head traveling means.
