PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous two phase system for extracting glycoside from an herb, containing an extracting solution, about 5-30 wt.% salt, about 5-30 wt.% polyol and optionally about 0-30 wt.% alcohol. SOLUTION: The salt can be selected from a dihydrogenphosphate, a hydrogenphosphate and a phosphate, or a mixture thereof, or can be a sulfate, a chloride, an oxalate or an acetate. The method for extracting the glycoside by using the aqueous two phase system is also disclosed. The method comprises preparation of the extracting solution, concentration, phase separation, drying, washing with a solvent, cooling, filtering and drying of the final product.
