PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can prevent wasteful suction of ink at a maintenance time for an ink head without increasing the number of pumps for sucking the ink. SOLUTION: An internal space of a cap 21 which adheres to an ink head unit 12 when the printer is not used is divided to a suction space 21a for color ink and a suction space 21b for black ink. Separate suction tubes 24 and 25 which are drawn out from a tube pump 22 are connected to the suction spaces 21a and 21b respectively, so that a suction operation is carried out separately to the suction space 21a for color ink and to the suction space 21b for black ink. The tube pump 22 holds a pressure roller for pressuring the tube 24 for color and a pressure roller for pressuring the tube 25 for black by a first and a second separate holders, and selectively applies a rotational driving force only to one holder. |
