PURPOSE: A method and a system for a financial transaction are provided to perform a financial transaction by recognizing fingerprints having various patterns according to persons. CONSTITUTION: If a transactor selects a fingerprint transaction and transaction request financial institution(200), inserts a resident card, and inputs a living body fingerprint, it is checked whether fingerprint data of the resident card is identified with the living body fingerprint. If a resident registration number is inputted and the living body fingerprint is inputted, it is checked whether the inputted living body fingerprint is identified with a stored fingerprint corresponded to the transactor(210). If the inputted living body fingerprint is identified with a stored fingerprint, a financial transaction approval is requested to a financial institution selected by the transactor(220). At this time, the fingerprints are not identified therewith, an input of a fingerprint is requested to the transactor again. If a transaction approval is output from the financial institution selected by the transactor, the transactor performs a selected financial transaction(230).
