PURPOSE: A tape tension device of a VCR(Video Cassette Recorder) is provided to maintain the tension of a tension band equally to the tension upon forward driving of a tape, though an operating mode of the tape is changed to backward driving, so that a tape loosened state is prevented and instantaneous screen noise is eliminated. CONSTITUTION: A tension band(53) is installed to contact with an external circumference of a supply reel(51), and holds the supply reel(51) to make predetermined tension applied to a tape(T). A tension arm(55) in which both ends of the tension band are fixed is arranged. A tension lever(57) moves the tension arm clockwise, if the driving of the tape is changed from a forward direction to a backward direction. And a mold spring(59) integrated in one side of the tension arm presses the tension band while being moved together with the tension arm, when the tension arm is moved clockwise by the tension lever.
