PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium wherein distinction between a pit track and a groove track and optical detection of the pit by an optical pickup and the like can be reliably performed and confirmed to the standard of the recording and reproducing characteristics set under the specification of the MD-data2 and the like, to provide a master disk of the recording medium and to provide a manufacturing method for the recording medium. SOLUTION: A pit 201 and grooves 202a and 202b are formed so as to form separate continuous tracks respectively on the surface of a substrate. The information carried by the pit 201 and the information carried by the grooves 202a and 202b are respectively set so that they can be continuously read along the respective tracks. The ratio of a pit track pitch 301 to the track pitch between the grooves 202a and 202b, that is a groove track pitch 302, is specified to be >1.00 and <=1.087.
