PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose an identification number appending method and system which can append an identification number for a large number of terminals automatically by the smallest possible number of termination. SOLUTION: A flag generation means and a counter are provided at each terminal. All counters start counting at once immediately after their initiation, and each flag generation means transfers a flag generated by a prior terminal to a terminal connected subsequently thereafter, and starts up its own flag to H logic by a clock immediately after the prior terminal flag start-up to H logic, and acquires the counting value of a counter as an identification number by a clock immediately after its flag start-up, and appends the identification number to each terminal according to the counting value of a counter.
