PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus by which a communication can be executed with high sensitivity by a method wherein a transmitting- receiving beam is directed to the direction of a communication partner. SOLUTION: In a receiving operation, a plurality of receiving beams are formed by an antenna 1 so as to be capable of receiving communication information from all directions, and the beams deal with all the directions. Multibeam signals which are controlled by a beam control unit 4 and which are formed by the antenna 1 are input to a received-power detector 2. In the detector 2, a beam whose power at a communication frequency becomes maximum is selected from among the input multibeams, and the received signal of the selected beam is input to a receiver 3 so as to obtain the communication information. In a transmitting operation, the antenna 1 is controlled by the beam control unit 4 so as to receive the communication information in all the directions, and the communication information from a transmission part 5 is radiated to a space from the antenna 1.
