PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mount crystal oscillator that can measure the independent electric characteristics of a crystal vibrator single body, prevent electric damage to an IC chip and facilitate the measurement. SOLUTION: In the crystal oscillator for surface mount where a surface mount package contains a crystal chip having a couple of exciting electrodes and an IC chip forming an oscillation circuit and having crystal terminals, and a crystal measurement terminal electrically connected to the exciting electrode of the crystal chip is provided to an outer surface of the surface mount package, a connection line interconnecting the exciting electrode of the crystal chip and the crystal terminal of the IC chip is cut off, after the electric characteristic of the crystal chip by the crystal measurement terminal is inspected, the connection line is electrically connected to the crystal terminal.
