The invention relates to the use of cyclical depsipeptides of formula (I) fo r combating ectoparasites. X1, X2, X3 and X4 mean oxygen or sulphur independently of each other and when R1 and R2 both mean hydrogen, at least one of the radicals X1, X2, X3 and X4 represents sulphur.
