PURPOSE: A method for processing a handoff using a GK(GateKeeper) is provided to achieve more simple and rapid handoff processing than a handoff through a multipoint conference mode by processing a handoff using an H.323 third party initiated pause and rerouting function in a mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: If the first MT(Mobile Terminal), located in a specific subnet of the zone a GK manages, moves to another subnet in a state that the first MT is connected with an FT(Fixed Terminal) through a traffic channel, the second MT which has moved to another subnet acquires a new IP address and requests the registration of the acquired IP address to the GK(S31). The GK allows the second MT to register the new IP address(S32). Then the GK transmits an empty capability set message to the FT and the first MT in order to momentarily stop the FT and the first MT(S33). In response to the empty capability set message, the FT and the first MT transmit a capability set response message and a logic channel close message to the GK(S34,S35). The GK momentarily stops the FT and the first MT by transmitting a logic channel close response message to the FT and the first MT(S36). Meanwhile, the GK transmits a Q.931 channel setup message to the second MT in order to execute a handoff to the second MT(S37). Then the GK executes grant request/confirm message processing with the second MT(S38,S39) and receives a call proceeding message, a call alerting message and a call connection message from the second MT(S40). At this moment, as the GK transmits an end session command message to the second MT, the GK removes the connection with the first MT and deletes the information of the first MT from a conference node.
