The procedure for shaping metal components by pressure stamping incorporates a lubricating stage prior to the deformation stage, in which a fluid lubricant is fed by a pump (30) through pipes (32, 33) to one or more orifices (11) in the working face of the stamping tool (10) that makes contact with the metal workpiece. During the lubricating stage a droplet of lubricant is formed in the free air at the level of the orifice, which is connected to a lubricant reservoir (31) at atmospheric pressure and is located adjacent to a zone in which stresses are created in the metal workpiece, e.g. a corner.
