PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable communication terminal with which different accompaniment can be easily added to an inputted melody on the terminal, automatic arrangement can be carried out on the basis of the inputted melody, and the melody itself can be automatically composed, and its control method. SOLUTION: The data input area for producing an accompaniment, which is long from side to side and is sash-shaped, in which the accompaniment production data can be inputted, and which is divided into the six blocks in correspondence with the six kinds of data for example, is displayed on a part of a display area 17a of the display unit of the portable communication terminal. A user places the cursor at the area of the item desired to input by operating the left/right key prepared in the portable communication terminal, and changes the content of the cursor position by operating up down key prepared in the portable communication terminal. When determining the content, the cursor is moved to the next block. Then, when the determination of the content of the input is completed to all items, each data for accompaniment production is inputted in bloc by operating the center key prepared in the portable communication terminal.
