The procedure for enhancing the performance of structural components such as beams, posts or slabs or of road covering materials consists of adding between 10 and 50 per cent by weight to the concrete or other materials of rubber pellets 2 - 5 cm in diameter, obtained from used motor vehicle tyres or conveyor belts. The pellets are packed in supple or rigid containers, e.g. in bags or rolls, made from materials that can be integrated in the concrete or coating material during mixing.
