PURPOSE: An inner shield for a cathode ray tube is provided to minimize change of volume of electron beam landing caused due to the influences of terrestrial magnetic fields, by changing the distribution of terrestrial magnetic fields around the inner shield. CONSTITUTION: An inner shield(20) comprises a flange portion(22) fixed to a mask frame(18); and a pair of longer side body(24) and shorter side body(26) each of which has a predetermined tilt such that the space between the longer side body and the shorter side body gradually decreases as it goes from the flange portion toward an electron gun, wherein the longer side body and the shorter side body are integrated as a single unit. The longer side body has a plurality of protrusions(28) for decreasing z-axis components of terrestrial magnetic fields and increasing y-axis components perpendicular to the z-axis components, so as to thereby change the distribution of terrestrial magnetic fields in the direction of reducing the force being applied to the electron beam by the terrestrial magnetic fields.
