PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system which optimize the time required to scan a document by an arbitrary scanner. SOLUTION: Calibration information obtained by calibration at the time of initial power-on or another calibration and information obtained by preceding scanning are used to quickly process future calibration requests or to exclude the request. This process reduces the time which a user requires to obtain the most suitable scanning, and eliminates many repeated scanning cycles to prolong the service life of the scanner.
