PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an electromagnetic linear actuator which can be reduced in the number of parts, provided at a low cost, and is space-saving. SOLUTION: An electromagnetic linear actuator is equipped with a movable unit (30) which holds a work, in a movable manner in a vertical direction to a stationary unit (20), a guide (40) which restricts the movement of the movable unit (30) except that it moves in the vertical direction, a base (11) where the guide (40) is fixed, and position sensors (50 and 50A). Only a single guide shaft (41) is used for the guide (40), and also the position sensors (50 and 50a) are also used for stopping the movable unit (30) from rotating. The position sensors (50 and 50A) may have a structure, in which a sensor bobbin (52) is fixed on the base (11) side, a sensor shaft (54) is fixed on the movable unit (30) side, and instead, a sensor shaft (54A) is installed upright on the base (11), and the sensor bobbin (52A) is fixed on the movable unit (30) side.
