PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily adjust the projection size of images according to aspect ratios corresponding to the images in such a manner that the projected images are efficiently maximally displayed on a screen. SOLUTION: A user arbitrarily sets either of a first display mode using the first aspect ratio as a reference and a second display mode using the second aspect ratio of the value smaller than the value of the first aspect ratio as a reference. When the first display mode is set at the display mode of the reference, the numbers of horizontal pixels of a first effective image area for displaying the first image having the first aspect ratio and a second effective image region for displaying the second image of the second aspect ratio are set equal. When the second display mode is set at the display mode of the reference, the numbers of the vertical pixels of the first and second effective image regions are set equal.
