A hydraulic punch includes punching area (12) and hydraulic pumping area (14) linked by flexible hose (16) which in turn allows the punch to move relative the pump. The pump can swivel a full circle round the hose and includes a reservoir for hydraulic fluid which can feed via hose off the pump to the punching area. The punch includes a housing (42) bored so the punch tool can slide through the housing and thus form two chambers in the housing bore. The chambers can communicate through a boring through the punch tool. One end of the housing is closed off by a spring stop (66). The punch bore has a first part lined up with the punch center axis and a second part radial to the first. The hose is joined flexibly at one end to the punch and at the far end to the pump.
