PURPOSE: A relief valve is provided to make a poppet completely close an inlet port regardless of the flow of the hydraulic oil by making the poppet move along a guide shaft and to smoothly operate a valve by completely closing the inlet port at the proper point of time. CONSTITUTION: A relief valve includes a body(10) having a bore(12), an inlet port(26) communicated with the bore, and an outlet port(14), a guide shaft(22) extended from the body to the inside of the bore, a poppet(40) having a guide hole(46) fitted with the guide shaft and for opening the inlet port of the body by moving along the guide shaft, and a compressive spring(50) for compressing the poppet in the closing direction of the inlet port. The poppet moves by the hydraulic oil flowing into the inlet port. Being aligned with a first plug(20), the poppet is not shaken even when the hydraulic oil flows in the inclined direction. Therefore, the inlet port is completely closed regardless of the flow of the hydraulic oil.
