The apparatus for implanting a knee prosthesis comprises a positioning block (11) which is fixed at the end of the femur. This has two guides (15), into which a mask (16) fits which has a series of transverse slots (17, 18, 18a, 18b). A tool can be introduced through these to carry out resection of the head of the femur.
