PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a battery pack of different length at a charging position and charge the battery with safety especially in a charger having a temperature sensor. SOLUTION: The charger has a cradle 2 to mount a rechargeable battery pack 11. The cradle 2 is provided on the upper surface of a case 1 and has a groove 2A to insert the battery pack 11 and a slot 2B adjacent the groove to insert the tip of the battery pack 11. The groove 2A and the slot 2B have the same common bottom that inclines down toward the slot 2B.
