PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the improvement of thermal fluctuation resistance and that of a medium SNm compatible. SOLUTION: In the perpendicular magnetic recording medium, the anisotropic magnetic field Hk and the saturated magnetizing amount Ms satisfy the equation 2<Hk/4πMs<5, and the anisotropic magnetic field Hk, the saturated magnetic amount Ms and a coercive force He satisfy the equation, 0.01< (α-1)Hc+4πMs}/ Hk<0.2 when the degree of the inclination is expressed asαperpendicularly in the magnetic field MH loop, and also the medium is provided with such a magnetic property that the magnetizing amount Mr remained in the surface becomes smaller than 0.2 of the perpendicularly saturated magnetizing amount Ms.
