PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which can be maintained small when a user uses the display device as a 'palm size' to take notes or to work with a spreadsheet (text calculating) and for similar applications and can be made large when the user has a need for viewing, for example, web data heavily using graphics or digital video. SOLUTION: This display device includes the display device (100) having interconnected adjacent panels (110) of variables numbers usable for a portable computer and a video controller (60) for determining how many panels (110) are to be used for the display device (100) and dividing the signals among the panels (110).
