PURPOSE: A refrigeration system and a control method thereof are provided to improve energy efficiency by regulating flow according to various control algorithm, and to use the small indoor space of the refrigerator by cooling food and drinks rapidly without freezing and by thawing refrigerated articles properly at the control temperature for preventing spoiling. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator(100) includes a first refrigerator compartment(122), a second refrigerator compartment(102) in flow communication with the first refrigerator compartment, a sealed system for producing desired temperature conditions in the first refrigerator compartment and the second refrigerator compartment, and a controller operatively coupled to the sealed system. The controller is configured to accept the plural user-selected input including first refrigerator compartment temperature and second refrigerator compartment temperature, and to execute various algorithm to selectively control the first refrigerator compartment at a temperature above the second refrigerator compartment and at a temperature below the second refrigerator compartment. Various control algorithm is provided for maintaining desired temperature conditions in the refrigerator compartments.
