PURPOSE: A hydraulic lash adjuster is provided to prevent the malfunction of an engine by the complement of the leakage of oil in a high pressure chamber at the startup of the engine in low temperature not increasing the interval of a body and a plunger. CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic lash adjuster comprises a bucket(17) contacted with a cam, a body(19) contacted with a valve at a side facing to the bucket, a plunger(21) installed between the bucket and the body and forming a low pressure chamber at the bucket side and a high pressure chamber at the body side, a plunger spring(23) elastically supporting the plunger and the body and adjusting the gap between the cam and the valve to be zero, and a check ball(25) installed between the high pressure chamber and the low pressure chamber. The body is connected to the plunger to be moved in the plunger to the opening direction of the valve.
