PURPOSE: A clamping device for inserting a steering gearbox for a car is provided to exactly and rapidly assemble by clamping a steering gearbox loaded horizontally on a load rack in a car manufacturing line and vertically inserting into an engine room. CONSTITUTION: A clamping device for inserting a steering gearbox for a car includes a base plate(21), right and left gripper hands(31,33), and an operation cylinder(47). The base plate is mounted on an end of an overhead crane and has two rail bars(23) formed in a horizontal direction. The right and left gripper hands are mounted oppositely to each other on right and left sides of the rail bars of the base plate through a slide block, and each of the gripper hands has a rotating gripper at a lower end. A front end of a piston rod is fixed to the left gripper hand, and the other end is supported by the right gripper hand.
