PURPOSE: A method for issuing an electronic receipt is provided to decide the validity of a receipt by standardizing the output format of an electronic bill, and to check the authenticity of an electronic bill by an authentication authority. CONSTITUTION: An electronic receipt writing server, an electronic receipt receiving client, a payment mediating server and a financial server are connected to a certificate issuing server. A user registers an electronic receipt verification key under the management of an authentication authority and issues an own certificate. An electronic bill receiving client receives a certificate including an electronic signature verification key of a shop operating an electronic receipt writing server. The electronic receipt receiving client downloads an electronic signature verification module and an electronic receipt verification/management module and installs the modules. The electronic receipt receiving client searches, purchases and pays for the articles.
