DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CORRECTING CHROMATICITY OF FLAT PANEL DISPLAY UNIT

PURPOSE: A device and a method for correcting chromaticity of a flat panel display apparatus are provided to have color reproduction without the distortion of colors, when a flat panel receives and displays video signals configured with a broadcasting standard. CONSTITUTION: An input signal analyzer(100) receives video signals with a broadcasting standard, and extracts a gradation value on a reference color coordinate for the received video signals. A color coordinate comparator(200) compares the reference color coordinate of the received broadcasting standard video signals with a reference color coordinate of a flat panel display with gradation values, to divide each color coordinate into 9 sub-areas using a predetermined area segmentation method and extract predetermined converted distance information while mutually corresponding each segmented sub-area to segmentation areas of mutually different reference color coordinates. And a chromaticity correction processor(300) converts the predetermined converted distance information through a predetermined interpolation method, to correct the received broadcasting standard video signals and output video signals driving the flat panel display.
