PURPOSE: A heat exchanger of a down-burning type boiler is provided to prevent the atmospheric contamination caused by carbon oxide and nitride oxide contained in exhaust gas by completely burning combustion gas. CONSTITUTION: A heat exchanger(60) includes a cylindrical outer container(61) having an upper plate(61a) and a lower plate(61b). A combustion pipe(62) accommodated in the cylindrical outer container(61) so as to form a combustion chamber in the cylindrical outer container(61). Both ends of the combustion pipe(62) extend to the exterior by passing through the upper and lower plates(61a,61b). A combustion gas guide pipe(64) is accommodated in the cylindrical outer container(61) in parallel to the combustion pipe(62). Both ends of the combustion gas guide pipe(64) extend to the exterior by passing through the upper and lower plates(61a,61b). A guide chamber(63) is provided between the combustion pipe(62) and the combustion gas guide pipe(64).
