PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lighten the burden on a user when a driver of peripheral equipment shared on a network is revised for version-up, etc. SOLUTION: A PC which functions as server equipment obtains the connection state information of all the PCs and peripheral equipment on the network and also obtains the setup state information for drivers of the peripheral equipment of the respective PCs. Then it is decided whether the driver of the peripheral equipment has been revised; when so, it is further decided whether the updated driver is of the latest version and then an object PC using the updated driver is informed that the driver has been updated. The PC which is informed of the updating makes the user confirm whether the driver is updated and requests the object driver information to the server equipment.
