PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discontinuity detector circuit suitable to a load drive circuits in a vehicle, which are advanced circuits using a high voltage and semiconductor switches. SOLUTION: A resistor R2 having resistance sufficiently larger than the load resistor R1 is connected in parallel with the power supply switching element 2 to form a circuit 3. A micro computer 12 detects the voltage change at the joint A where the circuit 3 and the load 1 are connected to detect a discontinuity in the load 1. The input voltage to the microcomputer 12 is controlled within the rated voltage by a Zener diode 14. Thus, even a high supply voltage +B is used, the microcomputer 12 can easily detect the discontinuity.
