PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the efficiency of a dc-dc converter whose load current fluctuates significantly. SOLUTION: In a deboosting chopper type dc-dc converter, a power MOSFET is caused to have a high ON-resistance and is turned on, by applying a pulse train having a low peak value near threshold voltage to the MOSFET 2 in an intermediate load region. By doing this way, its output voltage is controlled by a PAM(pulse amplitude modulation) switching system, which makes the peak value lower than a source voltage.
