PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information-providing method and an information-providing device, that can relieve a load related to maintenance and operation on the information-providing device operated by an information-providing enterprise attended with new models of portable communication terminals and prevent in advance from providing position relation information of a location apart from an actual current position of a user to the user, because of deteriorated accuracy of position information. SOLUTION: Functions of a conventional server unit of an information-providing enterprise is divided into a 1st function, that is a function not required to be revised attended with addition of models of he portable communication terminals and uses one of procedures specifying current positions, depending on the accuracy of position information having been prepared in advance, to provide information related to the current position and a 2nd function that is a function required to be revised attended with addition of models or the like of the portable communication terminals and providing information (accuracy or the like of positional information, depending on models or the like of the portable communication terminals) to be a clue to select one of information-providing procedures.
