PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically, easily, and surely receive electronic mail from a necessary sender without any special operation while avoiding a deficiency in memory capacity and the reception of unnecessary mail. SOLUTION: A password which is previously determined with a sender from which mail desires to automatically be received is previously registered in a password storage part 13b of a storage part 13 and when header information of electronic mail addressed to the recipient arrives from a mail server SV, the password included in this header information is compared with the password stored in the password storage part 13b. When the matching password is stored in the storage part 13b, a download request is sent to the mail server SV and the text and attached file of the electronic mail are automatically downloaded and displayed at a display part 15.
