PURPOSE: A method for controlling power in a DS(Direct Spreading)-CDMA system is provided to prevent the power control of transmit power from steeply increasing or decreasing by varying the increment or decrement of a threshold for a reference counter to increase or decrease the threshold, in updating a threshold for signal power control. CONSTITUTION: In case that the initial frame is received to a user, the current threshold(Thcurr) is set as a normal threshold(Thnom)(S20). Afterwards, if another frame is transmitted, a DS-CDMA system checks the error correction code of the frame(S21). In case that the FER(Frame Error Rate) is larger than a target FER, the DS-CDMA system increases the current threshold(Thcurr)(S22). If the FER is larger than a target FER, the DS-CDMA system decreases the current threshold(Thcurr)(S29). If the current threshold(Thcurr) gets larger than the maximum threshold(Thmax)(S23), the DS-CDMA system increases the first counter(Hcnt) by 1(S24). In case that the first counter gets larger than the first reference counter(ΔH)(S25), the DS-CDMA system adds an increment(ΔTh-H) to the current threshold(Thcurr). At this moment, the first counter(Hcnt) is reset to 0(S26). However, in case that the first counter(Hcnt) is not larger than the first reference counter(ΔH), the current threshold(Thcurr) maintains the maximum threshold(Thmax)(S27). If the current threshold(Thcurr) gets smaller than the maximum threshold(Thmax), the first counter(Hcnt) is reset to 0(S28). |
