PURPOSE: A kick down shift method of an automatic transmission is provided to reduce shift shock by converting a shift control valve into 3→2 shift at the time of 3→1 kick down shift, discharging hydraulic pressure of an end clutch, and converting the shift control valve into 1 speed after forming hydraulic pressure of a front clutch. CONSTITUTION: A kick down shift method of an automatic transmission includes the steps of converting a shift control solenoid valve into 2 speed by a control part of the automatic transmission(ST22), discharging hydraulic pressure of an end clutch(ST23), converting the shift control solenoid valve into 3 speed when the rotational frequency of a hydraulic pressure discharge path turbine of the end clutch reaches a predetermined value(ST25), forming front clutch pressure for 1 speed control(ST26), and converting the shift control solenoid valve into 1 speed by the control part to finish the shift when the front clutch pressure for 1 speed control is controlled and synchronized to an 1 speed target terminal(ST28).
